Never do business with closeoutgenius.com

Posted on March 7, 2009 by Alan

I decided to upgrade my GPS, and found the best price on the NaviGenius part of CloseOutGenius.com.  I ordered my GPS on Presidents day.  They sent me an email asking to “confirm” my order.  When I called, they gave a hard sell for a memory card and an extended warranty, asking me “how can you use a GPS without a memory card?”.  They did not tell me that it was not in stock.  Two weeks later, I called them.  It took about 20 attempts to get past the busy signal.  When I finally reach them, I am told that the GPS has been back ordered, but it will be in my hands the following Wed.  The following Wed, I get an email saying I had been backordered 2 weeks.  Because I don’t trust them at all by that point, I call without identifying myself and ask if the item was in stock.   I was told it was on a four week backorder.  I sent them an email cancelling my order.  I have received no confirmation of my cancellation.

I have reported this company to the NY Attorney General’s consumer affairs division.  Avoid  doing company with this business.  I will also call American Express to ensure that they don’t bill me.
