What we have speculated about for years — malware code embedded in components — has been verified in testimony to Congress by DHS. You don’t have to be a genius to guess about which country not only has the skills but also provides us with chips. The manufacture of critical components must either be within the US, or be subject to a verification process. What should be the response of the US to this? I think more than a private diplomatic complaint.
